As the 1st week of 2013 comes to a close, there are a few things that I have learned so far:
#1: That new Bruno Mars CD is off the chain. I gave my wife his CD for Christmas and I can't stop listening to "Locked Out of Heaven." It's so good, our daughter, January, tends to sing the chorus at any given moment. You have yourself a hit, Mr. Mars, if that is your real name!
#2: My birthday is a National Holiday. No wonder I didn't get a calendar for Christmas. President Obama wanted to surprise me with the news. Maybe I should have answered that unlisted phone call from Washington. Ooops!
#3: Speaking of D.C., I'm ready for all of the overpaid, do nothing politicians to jump off of the 'Fiscal Cliff.' How do you not handle a crisis that you've known about for almost 2 years and wait until the very last minute to come up with a temporary solution. If you all would stop hating on the President and actually help him...
#4: Ryan Seacrest is the new Dick Clark. I knew this was true when Dick was able to steal Ryan from Fox's New Year's Eve show. They both have the same work ethic. They both have an undeniable love for music and producing TV shows. Finally, both of the gentlemen were made for television. They were born for the medium. New Year's Rockin' Eve is in good hands with Ryan Seacrest.
#5: Quality TV is quality TV! You know a show is truly spectacular when you can watch repeat episodes like they're new. I did that with NASHVILLE and SCANDAL. These two female-centric shows are my favorites of the television season. Connie Britton (Nashville) and Kerry Washington (Scandal) both deserve to not only be nominated, but win EVERY award that their names are attached to. If you aren't watching these shows, then do yourself a favor and join the bandwagon now while there is still room. (Honorable mention goes to LAST RESORT. This excellent gem was not picked up for a full season. It's a great show. Do yourself a favor and enjoy all 13 episodes for what they are worth. I know I will. #TillTheWheelsFallOff
#6: There's nothing like a good game of The Sims to put you in a wonderful mood. It doesn't matter if it's the original game, Sims 2 or Sims 3, this God-simulator series is a wonderful way to spend a cold winter weekend. If you've never played the game, then trust me when I say that you're missing out. Creating characters and watching them live their lives is a bit therapeutic.
#7: A lot of people like READING my blogs, but they don't really feel like posting any comments. Help a brother out. Let me know you're out there and I'll shout you out! :)
#8: Speaking of shoutouts, let me show some love to my wonderful wife, Carmencita. Apparently I can be wrong some times. In one of my previous posts, I said that Carmencita was the reason why I joined facebook. Well after "she" did some research, "she" determined that "I" joined the social networking site at least a month before she did.
I wonder what I'll learn next week. Enjoy your weekend!
