Arvell "Mastrmynd" Poe is perhaps most recognizable from the first season of The House of Payne as Janine's friend, Fishbone ("Anybody want to buy a laptop?"), but he has also appeared in Daddy's Little Girls ("Monty! There's some girls in here!") and the series finale of Meet the Browns as the pool hall thug, The Whether Man. However, the University of Georgia graduate's experience far exceeds Tyler Perry Productions. Arvell, whose first featured role was in the independent, supernatural thriller The Other Side, has followed up with the Hip Hop drama, Step Off, the hit cyber thriller, blackhats and Devil's Knot (starring Reese Witherspoon and Colin Firth). Moreover, Arvell performed in commercials for AAA, ESPN and the face of the 2014 NFL.com Fantasy Football campaign.
The actor admits that even though he has a passion for acting, his first love is radio. He enjoyed his time doing college radio (WUOG 90.5FM) which eventually led to his becoming a deejay for the now-defunct Atlanta's 95.5 The Beat. Years later he created the theme-based Internet radio show The Takeover: Top 20 Countdown which he co-hosted weekly with his wife of eleven years, Carmencita, on vVcRadio.com and the syndicated version, The Takeover Countdown hosted by Mastrmynd & Tha Diva on Love 860AM broadcasting live from Atlanta, Ga. When he is not acting, the Arkansas native enjoys playing video games, reading, and entertaining their daughter, January Jazmynn.
Arvell is honored to have been the host for the Miss Black International Pageants and the 2012 Hosea Williams Feed the Hungry event on Easter Sunday at the Georgia Dome.
If you're still wondering where you've seen Arvell, he is one of the most recognizable Family Feud contestants in the Steve Harvey era. Do you remember the cool man in the black hat that went toe-to-toe with Mr. Harvey? Bing! That's him!
Be it film, television, theatre or radio, Arvell Poe is ready to bring your project to life!
