Despite being really excited about today's game, I was able to get some sleep last night. I didn't go to bed until about 2am, but I was able to sleep.
This is it. This the biggest game that this version of the Atlanta Falcons need to win. Win and we go to the Super Bowl. Lose and it's another year of "should'ves, would'ves and could'ves!" I have faith in my team. I've never seen this city so excited and so gung ho to support their local team. Sure, there are a lot of bandwagon fans out there, but there is electricity in the air. The Dome is going to be off the chain. If they mess around and play "We Ready" or "Never Scared" before or during the game, I fear that the 49ers and their fans will need to find a place to hide if they value their safety.
Rise Up Falcons. A victory today would be one of the best things that you could do for the city and for me as a birthday gift.
Here's the gameplan. Being I'm slightly superstitious, here are the 2 things that I KNOW will ensure the Falcons a victory:
1. Keep my feet off the floor. As long as I'm sitting indian style on the couch or bed, we're good. I can even have my feet hovering over the carpet, but if my feet are on the floor during a Falcons drive or a crucial play on Defense, we are in TRUUUUU-BBBBUUULLLLLLLL!!!
2. Make sure that I have my good luck charm, January, right beside me. If worked last week and it worked that first year that she was born. We won every game that we watched together. Granted she was only 6 months or so at the time, but it was great Daddy-daughter time. I don't know why or how she stopped watching the game, but we lost those games that she missed. Coincidence? I think not.
When the Falcons went to the Super Bowl in the '98-'99 season, I messed it all up for the Dirty Birds by visiting my Grandad in Oakland, Ca. I had this very lucky Falcons cap that I wore all of the time, but unfortunately the hat didn't make the trip with me to the west coast. It was in the trunk of my mother's car. Imagine trying to will the Dirty Birds to victory with a group of people who only cheered for them because of me...and I don't even have my hat to bring the championship home. I still haven't forgiven myself for that. Was a free trip to the West Coast really worth the loss of an NFL Championship? ...
Well, I need to start preparing for the game. There is a lot of ATLien music that I need to find and get crunk to before the game begins at 3pm EST. If you're a Falcons fan, then I know you'll be getting crunk with me, too!
Rise Up Falcons! Rise Up!!
