Happy Mastrmynd Monday! Maybe I should say "Happy Mastrmynd Wee" since my unaired episode of Family Feud airs this Friday at 7pm EST and my two favorite episodes of House of Payne (starring me as "Fishbone") air on Thursday & Friday (Check your local listings and dvr guide).
Wait a minute, "Merry Mastrmynd Month" (I love the illiteration) is more apropos if you add in my birthday, January 21st (which is a Federal Holiday. Thank you President Obama!) and the repeat broadcasts of the other Family Feud episodes (Yes, I said "NEKKID," but I am also the 1st person to ever wear a hat on the show. #LegendaryStatus) to the other things happening in January. Let's just take it one day at a time. Enjoy your Mastrmynd Monday.
What's so special about today? Well, today is the BCS National Championship College Football game between Notre Dame (They've had a television contract with NBC ever since TV was invented) and Alabama (They're currently the winningest school in the country thanks to Coach Nick Saban).
The University of Georgia should be playing in this game and representing the SEC instead of Alabama, but that's another story for another day. Today is Mastrmynd Monday because the world will get a healthy dose of my ESPN commercial, "Aloha Alabama." In the commercial, I play an Alabama fan who says "Roll Tide!"
That's right! I, Arvell Poe aka Mastrmynd aka "Mr. UGA" aka "The Brother who put the BLACK in "Red & Black" is on tape showing love to Alabama. If you haven't seen it or can't wait two seconds until it pops up on ESPN, then here you go:

I'm so believable that they start the commercial off with me! That's an ACTOR right there! Did you hear me? I said "that's an ACTOR!" To everyone who has ever joked or made references to my "lack of love for" or "disrespect to" the University of Georgia, you guys can move on to a new topic. I get it. You were attempting to be funny. I expected it. The local paper even interviewed me and I told them them as much. All I'm saying is that the joke is old in 2013. The commercial is 2 years old. Embrace it.
Look at it this way, they had to hire a Georgia-based Dawg alum to effectively portray a 'Bama fan on TV. Can you even imagine if they had to hire a 'Bama student? They would've gotten "Roll Tide" wrong!
Never question my loyalty to UGA. I bleed Red & Black on a daily basis. My "family" and R"eed, Arkansas" are the only twol things that I rep harder than my beloved school.
When I was working for 95.5 The Beat, I constantly shouted out UGA. As a matter of fact, one of my old listeners from UGA's WUOG 90.5FM, called me at the station just to make sure it was the "real" Mastrmynd.
Come on, y'all know me (and this is true because so many UGA Alums approach me in public or at Alumni events and I don't have a clue as to who these people are. Thanks for the love, though. It still amazes me how many people love my writings.)
Speaking of articles, I'm the dude who interviewed OutKast for y'all and found out that Andre was dating Erykah Badu before the rest of the world did. (Remember that Day of Soul?) I'm the person who mourned Biggie; who gave you the 5 Step Plan to Enjoy Freaknik; who revealed that the secret to enjoying life was found in the movie Friday. Be honest, did you really want to finish reading the Red & Black once you found out that I didn't have any articles in them? Take your time. I'll wait.
Attending UGA was one of the best decisions that I ever made. I will forever be a "Bulldawg for Life." I'm neither salty, nor bothered by the "Roll Tide" comments and jokes. That just means you've seen the commercial and you're thinking about me for another 13 weeks out of the year.
As a Georgia Bulldog fan, I'm all "Eff Alabama!" As an actor, I'm all "What's my motivation?" and "Ooh, another check for this 2 year old commercial? Thank you!" The way I look at it, as long as Alabama keeps winning, I keep going to the bank. It doesn't matter who wins the game tonight because I'M THE WINNER. The world will be focused on me and my ESPN commercial being played a million times. (Let's count 'em tonight!)
Now if I could only do a UGA commercial for ESPN. Since we're going to the National Championship game next year, that would be right on time. "Gooooooooo Dawgs!"
