Well...you know the rest.
Today was an interesting day. Today I was showered with unexpected compliments and job opportunities. I'd be remiss if I didn't state how my wife started the trend last night with some of the sweetest words I've ever heard. I love you, Carmencita! Thank you for such a heartfelt token of your affection.
As for today, a few people surprised me with various comments that really left me speechless. Despite all of my many accomplishments, I'm a very humble dude. You will not catch me going around bragging about myself, not even on Narcissist.com (aka facebook). Now I'll promote the heck out of my events and tv/film appearances, but I'm not that guy who constantly goes around saying what I've done, what I have or who I know.
For instance, a local filmmaker by the name of Bobby Peoples (Please make sure you check out his webseries Love, Atlanta Style. It's written and directed by him (with an assist from his lovely wife, Renee) and I think the show is awesome. I play a criminal mastermind on the show named Winston Barksdale and I'm having a ball with this character. Anyway, without hesitation, in reply to a comment I made on his facebook page, he told me that I was his "go to actor." He thought I knew, but I didn't. I was truly touched by that comment. You just never know who's watching you when you're doing your thing.
Speaking of people watching you, the "Show Arvell Some Love" train continued on via Hollywood Talent Manager, Tammie Shaw. I met Ms. Shaw when I was working on the set of Tyler Perry's "House of Payne." She is one of the coolest people I have ever met and I wish her nothing but continued success in the industry. To this day, I have nothing but love for her and her talented son, Doc. With that said, she surprised me with a "Happy New Year" msg on facebook. During our chat, she told me "you don't know it, but you have me rolling with everything you post. You are too funny!" Like I said, you never know who's watching (or reading) in this case. I have a big grin on my face right now just re-living the convo. If she likes my facebook stuff, I'm sure she's gonna love my new 2013 blogs! The other thing that she told me was that I am "a truly gifted man" and that "the best is yet to come." Wow. Unsolicited testimonies. I can't make this stuff up, people. God knows I wouldn't even lie about something like this. I just thank the Lord for the wonderful people that he has put in my life.
My Aunt Debbie even called me out of the blue to show me some love. She ran across the 2nd of 3 House of Payne episodes that I'm in. (The 3rd episode will air tomorrow at 9:30pm on PeachtreeTV in Atlanta. Check your local listings for time and channel in your area.) She is also excited to see my unaired episode of Family Feud on Friday. (Make sure you watch it. I promise you that you'll laugh until you stop. lol)
As far as the opportunities go, out of the blue LiquidSoulMedia offers me a gig to host the screening of the new movie, Gangster Squad, tomorrow. I was pleasantly surprised and thankful. Of course I accepted. I've worked with LiquidSoulMedia on several different projects as an emcee. It's a great company to work for and the people are wonderful. The movie is soldout so, NO, I can't get you in.
And now for stuff that just popped into my head:
*Big ups to my brother Kevin who got my daughter, January, the all new original Sesame Street movie, "Elmo's Alphabet Challenge." If you have a toddler that loves Elmo, they'll love this DVD and you will, too, especially if you're a gamer. The references to games such as Pac-Man, Super Mario Bros., Angry Birds, Dance Central & Need For Speed make learning letters fun and entertaining. I really like watching this DVD!
*A new episode of NASHVILLE came on today and it was OUTSTANDING. A new episode of SCANDAL comes on tomorrow and I'm too excited. I'm a happy Black Man right about now. Rayna James and Olivia Pope? Oh yeah...it's all good in the hood! (Do people still use that phrase?)
*Big shoutouts to SAG! Keep up the great work. Hey, I need all of you readers to go buy the latest "Meet the Browns" DVD that just came out. Help your boy out with those residuals, okay? Plus you get to watch the "Whether Man" whenever you want to. Remember, if you buy the DVD, me AND the Whether Man will sign it for you.
*I need each and every one of you to listen to vVcRadio.com. Do it. It's a 24hr station playing good, clean music. Make sure you sign up and create a profile. How else will you be able to communicate with us in the chatroom. And once my life normalizes, The Takeover: Top 20 Countdown WILL be back on the air. I know you miss us because we miss you. Until then, I gotta make the donuts.
That's all I have to say for now. I don't think I would've been able to go to sleep if I wouldn't have posted today's blog. Wifey is under the weather and daughter is refusing to go to sleep like most toddler's her age, so l need to go see about my lil' ladies.
Be blessed and thank you for reading. Please take a moment to comment or sign my guestbook. Let me know you stopped by, okay?
PS: I've started playing Ruzzle. It's the lil' redheaded stepchild of Boggle and SCRAMBLE...with Friends. Ruzzle is the game du jour on smartphones right about now. It's aiight. In Scramble, I'm pretty good. In Ruzzle, I'm freaking great! I'm about to hit 20 games and I'm currently undefeated. No one has even come close to beating me. I just want the world to know that I am accepting all challengers. My name is "Mastrmynd." If you can't find me, then do a facebook search if we're friends. If your Boggle game is weak, then I suggest you have Jesus and Jay-Z looking over your shoulder helping you while you play.
Like I say I January, "Night night!"
